Dating in Sydney - The Victoria Room Darlinghurst
Looking for somewhere to take a date in Sydney? The Meetmyfriend team have sought out some of Sydney's best ideas for great dates. We sent two couples on a double date at the Victoria Room in Sydney and asked them to tell us all about it.
The Victoria Room describes itself as a "sophisticated venue "Richly decorated in British-Raj style, this exotic dining room and award-winning cocktail bar exude bon-vivant chic". But what did our dating couples think? Having heard about the Victoria Room as a swanky up market eatery, single girl Cass and her friend Jane were keen to give it a try. Jane and Cass agreed to meet up with single mates Tony and Jim for a double date. "The setting was ideal for a first date because you can start off in the informal bar area and have a chat before your table is ready" explains Cass
Tony was impressed that with the menu choices and particularly pleased that there was lots on offer for his date for the evening, Jane who is vegetarian. Jane was keen on the service and clientele. "The staff is very friendly and the service is great" says Jane, who thought this is was great venue for people watching. "I am sure there were some people there I recognised, certainly the place is full of beautiful people"
The cuisine is described as "Mediterranean/Middle Eastern-inspired" dishes which are designed to be shared- although, "the drinks can be a little pricey", according to our dating duos. Both Jim and Tony agreed they would definitely take a recommend the Victoria rooms for a date "it's a fancy venue and a bit different if you are looking to impress, but it's a bit annoying that you can book for two" (bookings are only taken for groups of 10 or more) The girls too also gave the Victoria Room the thumbs up "there is a sort of sensual vibe to the place with all that plush velvet and private booths. It was a great night out with good food, great atmosphere and good company"
