Its different, it’s memorable and it’s dark enough to get a bit close and personal.  Sure you could just go out for dinner, but if you’re looking for something original this could be it. Plus there’s plenty of stuff to do if you are not ready for dinner conversation and comfortable silences.  . With entry prices starting at $15 for telescope viewing and 3-D space theatre, you won’t have to splash out to make an impression. Harbour and bridge views are thrown in for free.

For extra wow factor, plan your date around an astrological event. At the start of daylight saving the Observatory is hosting an intimate evening of pizza, moon, venus, jupiter, and liquid nitrogen!  2nd 5th and 7th of October (pretty wacky but it could be fun!)  Impress your date by googling some famous constellations - try locating your date’s star sign in the sky. If the evening is going well, party on at a nearby Rocks pub. If on the other hand you need to bail, there are regular busses from Millers Point.
