Question 1 Who uses meetmyfriend?

Single people and their friends. Meetmyfriend is an online meeting place: friends introduce their single friends and they meet new people together. Based on the concept of "six degrees of separation", we are all connected to fabulous single people - who just need to be introduced. Meetmyfriend creates a place for that to happen. If you are looking to expand your social circle, and even meet someone special in the process, then Meetmyfriend is for you - even (or especially!) if you have never considered meeting people online before.

Question 2 How does it work?

On Meetmyfriend, you and your friends are all in it together. It's hard to describe yourself; chances are your friends are much better at it anyway. Getting started works like this:

  • You can sign yourself up or sign up a single friend
  • First we get some basic details about the single person and their friend

·         The friend gets an email asking them to describe their single mate

  • The description is sent to the single person for approval
  • Once approved, it goes live on the site.

Either way, it's a lot easier and more fun than talking about yourself, and makes a more interesting read! Both friends have log in details and can share in the matchmaking (and meddling!) process online.

Once registered, you and your friend can:

  • Invite your other single friends to join you and link to one another online (Only the people you  know and invite can be your ‘friend')
  • Check out other singles together, recommend profiles to one another and chat about who is hooking up with who through secure email messaging.

Question 3 I am single - how do I join?

For you joining is the easy part! Click on "Are you single sign up now" and fill in your own personal details. This is how it works:

  • Choose a close friend who you trust to describe you well;
  • Fill in your email address and your chosen fiend’s
  • A request will be sent to your friend describing how the site works and asking them to describe you. (You can add a personal note so they recognise the request has come from you.);
  • Once they have written a description of you, this will be emailed to you for your approval;
  • You can add a comment and add photos of yourself.

Nothing will be added to the site about you without your approval. If your friend decides not to participate we will let you know so you can nominate someone else. Once you are on the site, it will not be possible to tell whether you joined the site yourself or your mate put you up to it!

Question 4 How do I join up my single friend?

Got a single friend who you would love to introduce to others? Click on "I have a single friend" and tell us all about them. This is how it works:

  • Fill in some basic details and write a short description of your friend;
  • You can add a photo of your friend if you have one or let them choose their own later;
  • We will then email your friend, describing what the site does to see if they are up for it. (You can add a personal message or a few words of encouragement)
  • They will have the opportunity to approve everything you have said about them and decide if they want to take part;
  • If they want, they can add a comment as well as add or change photos;
  • Once they have joined you will both get log in details;
  • If you want to you can search for people you think your friend might like, make recommendations and email one another through the site.

Your own personal details, and your friends, will be completely private. Unless you also join as a single - No one will know who you are and no one will be able to contact you. Only your friend will receive secure emails through the site.

Question 5 Is it safe?

Your safety and privacy are as important to us as. All your personal details are safe; no one will know anything more about you than you want them to. We make sure that:

  • Nothing will be added to the site about you without your approval;
  • Only the people you know and invite can be your ‘friend';
  • Your personal contact details remain private. We only display your first name and suburb

Question 6 How do I meet new people?

The search function allows you to select the type of person you would like to meet. You can flick through matching profiles of single people. Click on the "full profile" to find out more details. When you click on the full profile of someone you like you can:

  • See how their friend described them;
  • See more photos;
  • Make personal notes to help you keep track of your searches;
  • Let someone know you are interested by adding  them to your "who I like " folder;
  • Send them a message and say hi.
  • You can even check out the friends they are linked to on the site. You can find out a lot more about people from their friends!

Why wait for someone to contact you? Why not contact the people you want to meet? Being proactive on the site will greatly increase your choices and chances of meeting someone great. Contacting people on the site is completely safe so you have nothing to lose. Everyone on Meetmyfriend is there because they want to meet new people so get out there and take control!

Question 7 How much does it cost?

Anyone can register for free and add a profile. Friends can register their single pals or you can sign yourself up and nominate a friend to describe you. With a free membership you and your friend can:

  • Check out who is online and read their profiles;
  • Keep track of your online activities through your personalised home page;
  • Add people to 'who I like' and recommend potential singles to your friends.
  • Invite your other single friends to join and link to each other's profiles online through 'My friends'.

Then if you want, you can sit back and see if anyone contacts you or adds you as someone they like before deciding to become a member. Your free profile will remain on the site for as long as you want it to - or you can cancel it anytime. To send a message or read a message from another member you will need to become a paid member. We will send you an email alert if someone tries to contact you or adds you to their 'Who I like' folder. You can decide to become a paid member anytime.

Paid membership allows you to, read and send messages to other members.  Packages are for one month, or three months to give you flexibility and choice. You can cancel anytime or remove your profile if you meet someone special or want to take a break. (Please note in the Terms and conditions that we do not give refunds)

1 month = $30 (a round of drinks)
