Latest News - New Research reveals 'Man Drought' is man made myth
A New Gallaxy Research Poll reveals that the widely reported Australian man drought may be more of a man-made myth than reality, according to research commissioned by Meetmyfriend, with 68 per cent of single Australian women agreeing that it's not single men that are all dried up, but suitable men that have gone underground.
The recent media storm proclaiming that single Aussie men are as rare as hens teeth has sent shock waves through the camps of stiletto wearing single ladies, but further investigation shows that the numbers may not be as dire as originally rumoured. Reports that men outnumber women are true, but only by a miniscule margin of three per cent according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Population Census Data June 2007 Click here to read more about the Gallaxy Survey Results.
New website features
We are always looking for ways to make the site easier and better for you.
Below are some of your suggestions that we've implemented.
1. We made you look good
Click on a profile picture and now it appears bigger, better and brighter than ever 2. New search: last in first out The search feature now brings you the most recent members first so you can show your welcoming side and see who'd new in the crew 3. Your friends and favourites To make things simpler 'my favourites' is now called "who I like" and group friends is now called "My friends"
Wingmen at work
When you've only got a few lines to convey the best bits about your buddy, what's the best way to keep it real and keep it interesting? We asked successful wingman Frankie Callanan to tell us his secrets. "The best ones share a funny story, show glimpses of real character and give an insight that only a close friend can. Keep it real, keep it up beat, think about how to make the reader smile and see your mate for what's behind the facade."
You’ re writing a call to action in the classic sales sense, you want the person reading to drop your friend a line, not say “oh that’s nice, Yawn”. You want them to smile and think “they sound like a really cool person, I want to have a drink with them and hear more.” A good profile will give the reader an opener – something of interest they can ask your friend about to get the conversation started.
It’s a tough gig but they chose you – so give it your best shot and then it is over to your mate. You have been the online penguin; you have broken the ice and introduced the crew. Now you can waddle off to another part of the bar to watch with interest. Hopefully your friend takes the baton, runs like the wind and doesn’t blow a Dunlop Volley on the finish line and graze their forehead. Good luck out there team.
