An independent study on behalf of a popular dating agency has claimed that the current 'man drought' phenomenon was bogus. But all the good ones are taken. It found it was "quality" and not "quantity" that was fuelling the problem.
Demographer Bernard Salt, whose book Man Drought covered the issue in depth, wrote that in 1976 Australia had 54,000 more men than women aged in their thirties, but by 2006 the excess of young men had turned into a deficit of 9000.But a Galaxy Poll commissioned by online dating agency meetmyfriend.co
"Reports that men outnumber women are true, but only by 3 per cent," reads the new report. "That means that if you're lucky enough to land yourself at a singles party, you could expect the turnout to have 97 single women and 100 single men."
The report when on to suggest effective ways to meet a desirable partner and, 83 per cent of people polled claimed online dating is the most effective.
