Stuart’s Story:

Stuart might be a banker, but he’s definitely no stiff in a suit. He calls Paddington, Sydney home and has been known to frequent Paddo’s playground of pub’s and clubs on more than one occasion (maybe even two). At the tender age of 31, Stu still likes to boogie and is renowned amongst his friends as a keen music fan.
Like most and unlike some, Stu’s bodacious boogie hasn’t landed him that someone special as of yet. He finds bars a challenging place to meet women, saying that in general, the ladies tend not to be open to conversation. No surprise there Stuart, really!

Whilst it’s no mystery that unconventional ways of meeting people are usually better ‘breading grounds’, Stuart has found the options to be a bit limited in the past. He has tried online dating with RSVP, however he describes his experience as being somewhat stale, attributing this to its more mainstream popularity.

So when his mate Rob suggested Meetmyfriend, Stuart decided to give it a red hot go. “I was familiar with the concept from the success of similar sites in the UK, and it sounded very unique and a lot more fun than conventional online dating. They always say your friends know what you like better than you do,” he said.
Stuart describes meetmyfreind.com.au as practical yet casual, saying that it provides a successful dating experience made easier with the support of friends online. “Definitely having a friend describe you makes for a more accurate description. It is also more genuine as it steps away from the whole ‘I like to go out but also like staying in with a DVD’ self-description which is commonly found on ordinary dating sites.”

When asked which aspects of meetmyfriend.com.au he finds most appealing, Stuart highlighted the originality of the platform and the quality of the population, remarking that the membership seems to be made up of people who wouldn’t normally consider internet dating.

Without wanting to sound too superficial, Stuart confesses that an attractive photo is also a very important feature on the site. He adds, “As in any dating scenario, there has to be physical attraction however, comical and witty profiles and common interests do help to seal the deal”.

Whilst Stuart only managed to have one live date before he was snapped up, he is recently single and ready to shake his stuff once again. “meetmyfriend.com.au just adds a whole different twist to the dating scene. I’ve shared my experiences with other friends and family, and while there may have been a few giggles, they all agree that it’s a worthwhile pursuit. Mockery is for people who live on the fence and don’t experience new things – how boring! I’m just looking forward to getting back out there,” he said.
